I’ve been a fan of The West Wing since it first aired in the late ’90s and early 2000s. This seven-season drama follows life inside the White House under President Bartlet, a Democrat. It’s a fascinating, easy-to-watch show with an incredible storyline, filled with twists, challenges, and a cast of characters who are all trying to do the right thing—to make the country better.
There’s a lot of turmoil in the world right now. Uncertainty is everywhere, and for those of us who are neurodiverse, that uncertainty can feel overwhelming. But The West Wing got me thinking.
At the start of this year, I made a pledge—to talk more about resilience and to be more consistent in sharing content across social media. To highlight not just what I do, but why I do it and how I do it.
When you hear the word failure, what does it mean to you? How does it feel when you’re neurodiverse?
Failure should never be a barrier—it should be a question.
One of the most iconic phrases in The West Wing is “What’s next?” It’s not about dwelling on what didn’t work; it’s about focusing on what comes after.
So when things don’t go to plan—when anxiety creeps in, when you feel like you’ve hit a wall—maybe the best question to ask isn’t “why did this happen?” but instead…
What’s next?
How do we adapt? How do we change the outcome? How do we move forward, continue to grow, and keep pushing toward our goals?
That’s exactly what I’m going to do. That’s what I’m committing to. And I hope you’ll follow along with me.
Every day, we take a step forward. Some days are up, some are down, but we keep going.
So let’s carry on. What’s next?
